WINNER OF THE CARAN D'ACHE AWARDS 2008

Somerset born, Bristol based artist Robert Antell specialises in portrait commissions and painting figures.
He creates truly memorable and beautiful imagery using coloured pastels.
His influences include French Impressionism, 14-15th Renaissance Painting and more recently the British Arts & Crafts movement. As a young art student he became interested in the photography of Henri Cartier-Bresson who specialised in capturing 'the decisive moment'. It is this spirit that Robert tries to capture in many of his pastel paintings. His original pastel paintings are owned by private collectors worldwide.

"Why shouldn't art be pretty? There are enough unpleasant things in the world." Pierre-Auguste Renoir
