Saturday 15th March
Today I am being very lazy as I am preparing myself to run in the Bath Half Marathon tommorow.
Got up early and finished updating my website and started diary!
I am currently working on a new life study called nude in shower. This is one of a series of life studies I am currently producing. I have found that there is a very big demand for nudes. I have sold every one I have produced and it is difficult to keep up with demand most are sold to private collectors in UK, USA and Australia.
I have to spend a lot of my weekend time drawing as I work full time. I get up very early at weekends and draw and drink gallons of tea.
Took my dog dusty for a walk on the downs with my wife, weather horrible but nice to get out. Dusty was very naughty and kept running off and trying to join in the football matches going on.
We met a lovely lady from Venice who has lived in Bristol for 5 years. Decided to visit Venice one day and hopefully will do some drawings from the visit.
My wife cooked pasta to prepare me for the half marathon tommorrow, in bed by 9 o'clock!!

Sunday 16th March
Up early for Bath Half Marathon, pouring down with rain and cold, so not nice for running in. Luckily the race was delayed by 1 hour so stopped raining before we ran. Did personal best time 2h5m.
Met with family and friends after for drinks in Bath then back to my mums for Sunday roast.
managed to raise £175 for Bristol Children's Hospital so worth all the pain.
No drawing today in bed by 9pm.

Monday 17th March
Up early, back to work today. (I work in a large design studio in Bristol producing corporate literature and press advertisments for a large financial services company).
Most of my artwork is produced early morning, evenings and weekends so have to work very long hours. Would love one day to be a full-time artist but at the moment its just not feasable.
Went for a massage at my health club in the evening to sooth my aching muscles!

Tuesday 18th March
Very busy at the moment, still recovering from half marathon. Hopefully will be continuing with drawing tommorow morning. Have some time off over easter so will have some time for producing some new work then.
Aim to finish 'Nude in the shower' by the weekend. Will be continuing in the theme of life studies. Sold original 'reclining nude' today to regular customer from Middlesborough.
Swimming at health club in the evening, wont be running for a while i think!
Very late night as daughter had a college party and came in at 2.30 and I cant sleep until she's home safely.

Wednesday 19th March
Last day of work before easter break. Sold original 'Nude after the bath' to customer in United States.

Thursday 20th March
Day off work continued my hatred for flatpack furniture, my wife bought a new kitchen workstation which needed to be constructed, took me and my son all morning, the instructions were diabolical, we had to take the whole thing apart again after realising we had put a part in the wrong way around, annoyingly pointed out by my wife! Finished 'Nude in shower' picture. Made pizzas (my speciality, I used to work in a pizza parlour in Bath when I was a student), drank a bit too much red wine in the evening.

Good Friday 21st March
Clothes shopping followed by swim and sauna at the club. Saw some female friends who noticed I am doing a lot of nudes and thought I should do some 'larger ladies!' Watch this space.

Saturday 22nd March
Currently working on copy of Degas 'Blue Dancers' I like to occasionally produce 'cover versions' of works of art by favourite painters who's style I admire. It helps you to break out of your default style and discover how to master new techniques and colour combinations.
I am Really pleased as I bought the April edition of 'Artists & Illustrators magazine' and they have published my work in the Portfolio section of this prestigious magazine.

Sunday 23rd March
My wife made the family go to church this morning, I was late as had to pick my daughter up from sleepover and she looked like she had been dragged through a hedge backwards so she had to go home to shower and change. We had to sit with the children's groups, I found it very difficult not to laugh as a boy behind us was doing everything in a Donald Duck voice!
I am currently working on a portrait commission of a little girl so was able to get some drawing done today.
Went swimming in the evening and an early night as I have to take my parents to the airport at 6pm Monday as they are flying off to New York to start a 2 weeks cruise of West Indies.

Easter Monday 24th March
Weather appalling again, this is the worst Easter Bank holiday weather I have known in a long time.
Went out for wet walk to Leigh Woods with wife, son and dog.
Out for a meal in the evening to italian restaurant 'Amici' very good unpretentious italian in Bishopston where I live.

Wednesday 26th March
Back to work today so the weather has improved dramatically.
Went to see my daughter in her school play in the evening and was absolutely amazed by the high standard of performances. This makes up 50% of the marks for the A level drama she is studying. The examiner has a very difficult job, I couldn't fault any of them (obviously my daughter was the best though!)

Friday 28th March
Finished portrait of Charlotte today. Niche Frames have confirmed they will be exhibiting my work in May. Started new semi-nude picture 'Nude before the bath'.
Went food shopping in Marks & Spencers today as my wife had some vouchers, cost a fortune but food is delicious so will be eating too much this weekend!

Sunday 30th March
Went for a run on the downs in the morning. Beautiful weather today, took Dusty for a walk on Brandon Hill and then round Bristol Docks, so many people about, should have taken my camera, made a mental note to go back and take some photographs.

Monday 31st March
Just finished another semi nude 'Before the bath by candlelight' and have just organised a run of limited editions from 6 new images.
Went running at lunchtime with one of my running partners who is 12 weeks pregnant so we kept a very steady pace, my legs still not fully back to normal after Bath Half Marathon.

Tuesday 1st April
Back cycling to work today, nice to get back into routine, weather definitely more spring like, might even start wearing shorts next week.
Went to the Bristol Hippodrome in the evening and saw The Wedding Singer, excellent show, very uplifting. Designed my sons new posters for his band Live Zeppelin. He is trying to make it as a professional musician, it will be tough but he has my tenacity, he needs to work harder though!

Wednesday 3rd April
Currently working on some larger format nudes, I am intending to approach some galleries in a few months time so will need a variety of work to show. Am also hoping to visit the Affordable art fair in Bristol in May and take some drawings with me.

Saturday 5th April
Discussed my exhibition at Niche frames in May, I am also talking to The Better Food Company, and Bordeaux Quay Restaurant with view to exhibiting my work. I am very exited as have found a lovely new frame which is manufactured from only sustainable forest timber. I will be using for most of my framed prints from now on.

Sunday 6th April
Went for 6 mile run on the downs in the morning, very cold today. We had a wedding in the afternoon at The Matara Centre, in Kngscote, Nr Tetbury in Gloucestershire. Very beautiful place and surrounding gardens. It was snowing very hard during the wedding ceremony and reception, made everything look very pretty. The only downside was that the food in the evening consisted of a Barbecue (outside!). They certainly wont forget their wedding day though.

Tuesday 8th April
Have now started to produce work for my 'Summer Reflections' exhibition at the end of August. Am starting with 'Running to the sea' which is from a photograph I took on the beautiful island of Herm in the Channel Islands last year.

Thursday 10th April
Have got a hideous cold at the moment,am trying to fight it off by taking echinichea, running, swimming and having lots of saunas but am still suffering. We are exceptionally busy at work at the moment as are understaffed so too tired to draw at the moment. My 17 year old daughter has just gleefully announced she is going to Glastonbury Festival this year, I hope it doesn't rain otherwise I think I may be getting a phone call to come and collect!

Saturday 12th April
Took my pictures into Niche Frames for my exhibition, they are going to frame them and display them. I'm quite excited to see what they do with them. Jane has a really good eye so I am sure they will look great. Took my dog Dusty out in the afternoon and have discovered she is a really good footballer. Went round to friends house for dinner in the evening. My son has a gig in Weymouth tonight and my daughter was out at a friends so we have the house to ourselves.

Sunday 13th April
Watched London Marathon and am inspired to apply for it. I also registered for Bristol half Marathon. I cant motivate myself to draw at the moment. Really saddened by news of death/suicide of Mark Speight BBC Children's Art programme 'SMART' presenter announced today.

Tuesday 15th April
Actually did some drawing this morning, then went off for early morning swim at Bannatynes, it was beautiful as the sun was streaming through the windows and reflecting off the water to create wonderful colours. I can only swim in the mornings during school holidays so will be back on my bike to work next week. Incredibly busy at work this week so am feeling very tired.

Saturday 19th April
Life is very hectic at the moment, extremely busy at work and doing overtime. Not much time or energy for drawing, am trying to progress with Running to the sea picture but very slow.
Have had one of my pictures accepted for an exibition for the Artist Magazine in Patchings Art Centre, Nottingham in June/July so very pleased. They are going to exhibit my Medina Bus stop picture. My son played a gig at the Old Fox pub last night, it was a fantastic gig, I was so proud of him. The band is called Live Zeppelin they are amazing and very talented.

Sunday 20th April
Working overtime today so no opportunity to draw. Took my son to see Rolling Stones film shine a light. Definitely the greatest rock band ever!

Thursday 24th April
Have actually managed to do some drawing this week. Getting up at 6.30 everyday before work and drawing for 1.5 hours has enabled me to almost finish 'running to the sea'. Will finish at the weekend. Had email today from Artist & Illustrators magazine inviting me to exhibit at their online gallery, will need to supply 6 images. Went running with my pregnant friend Roxy today, was very hard for both of us.

Monday 28th April
Beautiful weather at the weekend although I was decorating most of the time. Did manage lunch outside on sunday which is the first time eating outside this year. Also manged to finish off my picture of Herm Island- 'Running to the sea' which will feature on my home page in May. Started a new picture of a Little town in malta which is from a photo I took when we were there a few years ago. I dont know the name of the town unfortunately, hopefully someone might be able to enlighten me.

Tuesday 6th May
Went away for long weekend to North Devon (Berrynarbour, Nr. Combe Martin). Really beautiful coastline and countryside. We have been going there for the last 11 years so its like a second home. I will be doing some drawings of this area at some point. My exhibition at Niche Frames is now ready to view, Jane has made a beautiful job of framing up my images. Also have had confirmation of my exhibition at the Better Food company in June.

Thursday 8th May
Went to see Sleeping Beauty on Ice at the Hippodrome last night, stunning and beautiful show by Russian company. The weather is beautiful at the moment so its really motivating me to get up early and draw. Should finish my Little town in Malta picture at the weekend, its making me want to go back to Malta.

Sunday 18th May
Finished my picture of 'Little Maltese Town'. Went to Affordable Art Fair in Bristol on Sunday, there was some stunning work there, very inspirational. Sent off my picture of the Maltese Bus Stop to Patcjings Art centre in Nottingham for inclusion of the exhibition by the Artist Magazine in July.
Thinking about what picture to do next, still undecided.

Thursday 22nd May
Feeling extremely tired its early morning and am just about to take my dog Dusty out for a walk. Have finished my picture of the little Maltese town, you can see it in the recently completed work section now. Have just started a new picture of a Cafe in Nice which is from a photo I took when we were there at christmas. Am looking forward to a long weekend as have a few extra days off as its my 48th birthday on tuesday 27th. We are going to Devon on Friday night, hopefully weather will stay nice!

Tuesday 27th May
My Birthday, 48 today! I have the day off work. My lovely wife cooked breakfast, smoked salmon and scrambled egg. Then went off to Brsitol Fine Art and Harold Hockey to buy some new pastels (Oranges, reds, yellows and Blacks) I need them for my new picture of the Cafe in Nice which is from a photo I took when we were there at christmas. Then went to visit some really nice people who want me to paint a picture of their allotment in St Werburgh's, they made tea in a storm kettle and we sat looking over the green valley to St, Werburgh's and beyond.
Had lunch with my daughter in the Better Food Cafe and checked out the exhibition by Photographer Anni Cullen which is there, mine starts on 22nd June. Then off to Niche frames to sort the frames I need for it. Took my dog Dusty out in the afternoon with my son and chatted about his plans for the band which is all very exciting. Quiet meal at home in the evening with few glasses of wine, Perfect Day!

Friday 6th June
Have day off work today, as taking my daughter for an interview at City of Bristol college, as she wants to do an art course there. Have just found out I have won an award! I submitted my picture of the Malta bus stop to the Artist Magazines' exhibition at Patchings Art Centre in Nottingham and have won the 'Caran D'ache Award, not sure what I have won or why yet but was very exciting when they called me yesterday.
Am making good progress on my Nice (France) Cafe drawing, I am really pleased with it and think it could be one of my best, its very difficult to tell until you have finished a piece though.

Saturday 21st June
Have had a horrible cough for the past week which has made me feel miserable as it just wont go away. Havent done any drawing or anything really creative. I am putting up my exhibition at The Better Food Cafe tommorrow so that will cheer me up and make me feel more positive. Niche frames have done a fantastic job in framing them as usual. My Daughter is off to Glastonbury festival on wednesday so really hope the weather improves as it is pouring with rain at the moment. Plans for the Bristol Guild exhibition are coming together really well now, I think its going to be a really good show.

Monday 30th June
My exhibition at the Better Food Cafe is now up, it will be there for 4 weeks. Things beginning to get quite busy on the exhibition front now. I am going to be exhibiting at a new gallery opening in Wells called A2 Gallery. It should be opening late July and is situated at 78A High Street. Am also going to Marine House Gallery in Beer, Devon in August to discuss exhibiting my work. My next exhibition at the Bristol Guild is coming up fast now and the publicity material is being printed.
Went to a good friend's 50th Birthday party on saturday night, best party I have been to in a long time!
Also my lovely daughter comes back from Glastonbury festival today I have missed her so much so very excited about seeing her later on, she will probably be in a bit of a mess though!!
